Review
Woman on the verge of a nervous breakdown is the introduction to Almodóvar’s provocative world. We find the aggressiveness of his earlier films smoothed in a comic drama where everyone can understand and appreciate his language. The birth of a more specific style is translated in an Oscar nomination and critics see the popular acceptance of the film as an authorial lightness. The film is crucial because it meant the realization of the image of Pedro Almodóvar.
